As the holidays approach, you may be at a loss over what to get for some of the people in your life. Everyone has that friend or loved one who is always on edge — whether they have an actual anxiety disorder* or are simply overworked, stressed, or tired. They may seem like a hard person to shop for, but their high-strung ways actually provide a great opportunity. They may be looking for the perfect way to take a few minutes and calm down, so why not get them something to help with that?
1. A Diffuser and Some Essential Oils
Aromatherapy can have a very calming effect. The sampler allows the recipient to try different scents and see which one is their favorite. As a bonus, if they run the diffuser with no oil in it, it can be a small humidifier!
2. A Meditation Cushion
Mindfulness and meditation have been shown to help with stress and anxiety. Get your loved one a comfy cushion to sit on so they can give it a try.
3. Himalayan Salt Lamp
I don’t personally believe the claims about these lamps purifying the air, but they are really pretty and calming to look at.
4. A Cute Mug and Some Tea
5. A Massage Gift Certificate
Who can’t use a massage? If you have a spa you already know and love, get your friend in for a session. If not, try Groupon or LivingSocial to find a deal. Make sure to check out reviews of an unfamiliar place online using Google or Yelp, though — no one wants a bad massage!
*Nothing on this list is a substitute for proper mental health care. If your loved one is really suffering, they may require more help or an intervention from a trained professional.
