When you have roommates you don’t always get to decorate the way you’d like. (You also don’t get to adopt a dog when you really want to, but that’s another story.)
But I love the fantasy of creating my own space, even without the ability to implement it. So I’m constantly making note of cool home decor ideas and items that I’d like to have. Right now, I’m super into the holographic/iridescent trend. I’m obsessed. Maybe it’s a throwback to growing up in the prime Lisa Frank and blowup furniture era, but I love anything that’s shiny and rainbow-y.
That’s probably one of those things you’re supposed to use sparingly, but I’d cover my entire home in the oil slick look if I could. Furniture, wallpaper, accessories, you name it and I want it shiny.
Here are a few of my favorites.
I actually have one of these pillows. It’s like the one on the right, but in another color. At only $8 (plus the cost of a pillow insert if you don’t already have one), it’s a cheap way to add unicorn flare to your home. Plus you get to do this:
OK, so it’s not JUST drinking supplies. But mostly. There are a lot of cool holographic ways to get nooched. Flasks, bar sets, and cups are just a few, but they are AMAZING. Kitchen goals.
The Coup de Grace
And for our final round, I bring you home decor magic. I actually ordered this for myself, but I may have to keep it covered most of the time so my roommate’s cat doesn’t destroy it. Anyway, drumroll, please.
I know it doesn’t look like much in this picture (up your game, Target), but I’ve seen it in person, and it’s amazing. The total unicorn rainbow experience condensed into one little ottoman.
Just one question remains. Would it be excessive to have ALL of these things in my home?
